About Space Week  

World Space Week is an international celebration of space, science and technology, and their contribution to the betterment of the human condition. Established in 1999 by the United Nations, Space Week is commemorated globally on 4th – 10th October every year.

 Space Week South Africa will be a Space Science fair that will bring together local & international industry experts, organizations and corporations that operate in the space domain.

This Space Science fair will include exhibitions, presentations, and keynote speeches aimed at cultivating the South African youth minds and the general public’s interest in space education and the space industry. Space Week will provide educational and networking opportunities for the participants. 

Space Week is tailor-made for teachers, students and space enthusiasts who are passionate about aerospace and are looking for ways to create holistic, hands-on activities in the classroom.

 Through Space Week, we hope to usher in a new age of education and technology in South Africa. STEM teachers & students will benefit most from this event.

Objectives of the Space Week:
  • The goal is to introduce Teachers & students to the space domain’s immense career opportunities.

 

  • To educate the students and empower them to expand their opportunities to enrich their community through science and technology.

 

  • To form a passionate learning network committed to the professional growth of the students

 

Space Week Learning outcomes:
  • Motivate and inspire students to enhance their literacy & competence in sciences, technology, engineering & math (STEM disciplines)

 

  • Inspire students to consider pursuing a career in the STEM field, particularly in the space domain.

 

  • Promote awareness of the importance of space research, exploration, and applications in the objectives of modern society and the economy.
World space week will be hosted by FASESA in collaboration with Estes Rockets.

Future African Space Explorer’s Stem Academy (FASESA) is a not-for-profit organization, formed with the aim of growing the Space Exploration landscape in South Africa and eventually the whole of Africa. Our goal is to enable nations to achieve greater realms of technological success through spacefaring endeavors by engaging, encouraging, and empowering the youth to pursue space careers through dedicated exposure to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) topics.
